Tinchuley is a mountain village near Darjeeling. The calm ambiance of Tinchuley while being endowed with the abundance of natural beauty has made Tinchuley the new offbeat destination of Darjeeling. The word “Tinchuley”, stands for “Three Chullahs or Ovens”. It has got its name because of the three hill tops surrounding the place which look like Chullahs or Ovens. Sprawled with lush green valley of alpine forest there are multiple pictorial places in and around Tinchuley. An eco-tourism initiative with active support from WWF was initiated during the 1990s.

As part of the initiative, homestays as well as other sustainable projects such as organic farming started in this place. Tourism in the area grew many times over the decades and today Tinchuley has a remarkable number of homestays, lodges, and resorts in and around. In Tinchuley, one can engage in rock climbing, trekking, sightseeing, all with a background of scenic green mountains cape. Tourists have options to explore through the virgin forest of alpine trees which houses numerous exotic birds or take a stroll on the banks of river Teesta and Rangeet confluence to feast your eyes with panoramic view.

By Rail: New Jalpaiguri Railway Station is the nearest station from Tinchuley at a distance of 75 kms.

By Road: The place can be reached from Siliguri via N.H. 10, which connects Sikkim or N.H. 55, which connects Darjeeling.
