SWAMI VIVEKANANDA(1863-1902)
Swami Vivekananda was born on 12th January 1863 in an aristocratic Bengali family. His early name wag Narendranath Dutta. Vivekananda was one of the greatest disciples of the famous spiritualist of his age, Ramakrishna Paramhansa. He first met his guru Ramakrishna in 1881 and thereafter he started visiting him frequently for spiritual quest. He established a monastery at Baranagar in 1887, after the death of his guru later and later on he formed Ramakrishna Mission, in 1897, with the objective Of carrying on humanitarian relief and social work.
He made an extensive term of India whith brought him into close contact with the people and enabled him to realize the true condition of India. Facts reveal that the revitalization of Hinduism in contemporary world was driven by the strong clairvoyance of Vivekananda. He Known all over the world for his critically acclaimed and inspirational speech at The World Parliament of Religion in 1893 at Chicago (USA). Here he raised the prestige of India Hinduism very high. From USA he visited Europe with his message of Hindu vedantic philosophy and then returned to India in 1897. Advaita-Vedanta and the religion of humanity were the two lessons he received from mentor Ramakrishna Paramhansa. In accordance to his guru's philosophy and teaching, Vivekananda's Ramakrishna Mission aimed at establishing many schools, hostels, colleges and vocational centers which has largely contributed towards the development of Nation and humanity.
Vivekananda made an extensive tour in Europe and America and carried out numerous public and private sermons and lessons publicizing Vedanta and yoga, there. He also established Vedanta Society in America and England.
In 1900, he went to Paris to spoke at the congress of The History of Religion. But after returning to India, he became seriously ill and on the 4th July 1902, the saint took Mahasamadhi. Swami Vivekananda's life inspired not just great son of Bengal but also every youth is as inquisitive as him.
Born- Vivekananda was born at his ancestral home at 3 Gourmohan Mukherjee Street in Calcutta, the capital of British India.
