Chilapata Forest is the main corridor used by the elephants to travel between Jaldapara and the Buxa Tiger Reserve. This is a dense forest close to Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary in Dooars. Tourist can come across elephants on their journey as animals roam freely around this place. Amongst the different tourism related activities angling, birding, safari are the few options available for the tourists to opt in the forest.

By Air: You must first come to Bagdogra airport, and then you can hire a car to take you to Chilapata. Distance from Bagdogra to Chilapata - 138 km. (Approx. 3hour drive)

By Rail: The easiest way is to board a train upto New Alipurduar Station (NOQ) from where it is only an hour's drive to Chilapata wildlife sanctuary. Distance from Alipurduar to Chilapata - 28 km.

By Road: You can choose National Highway 31 to reach Chilapata if you're driving your car.
