Armenian Church is located in Armenian Street, in the north-west corner of Barabazar, near Howrah Bridge in Kolkata. Built in 1764, designed in the early 18th century, the Armenian Church is the oldest extant Church in Kolkata. This church was built on the grounds of the old cemetery of the Armenian Community of India. The interior of the Armenian church was designed by Catchick Arakiel, who also made a monastery for the priests and built the high walls around the cemetery.

The interiors of the church are very lavishly decorated with a combination of white and black marble. There’s a staircase that leads up to the galleries where the walls have intricately designed frescoes and paintings. The altar has a cross, the gospels and 12 candlesticks symbolizing Christ and his Apostles. The cultural hub of Kolkata holding up art and culture in its rightful place. Artists from all around the world are welcome to showcase their talent and make the best of their abilities here.
