The Jaldapara Sanctuary, which is in the eastern Himalayan foothills and is crossed by the river Torsa, is home to various wild animals. To add to the experience of the forest explorers, safaris and elephant rides are the only way to move within this forest. For tourists who wish to explore this sanctuary, ideally stays at this little town called Madarihat which is located near the Jaldapara National Park’s Forest border.

Most of the starting point for trips to the Jaldapara forests is Madarihat. There are multiple other staying options in and around the sanctuary but the most well-known lodging option is the Madarihat Tourist Lodge, which is owned and operated by State Tourism Department.
